E. Karunakaran, short story writer (06.11.1948 – 02.03.2001)
We are
devoting this page to his loving memory. He has written a few
stories, some articles and a TV script on Appan Thampuran.
Son of the
best master story writer of all times, Uroob (P.C. Kuttikrishnan),
Karunakaran was born in
Ponani, a coastal town of Kerala. Mother E. Devaki Amma. He married
P.K. Lakshmi on 15th March 1981. He had his education till graduate
level at Kozhikkode.
Karunakaran
died of heart attack at the age of 53.
He could publish only one book titled “Sreekumarapakshi”, a
collection of short stories in the year 1978. Immediately after his
death in the year 2001 ‘Pappiyon’ published another collection of
his stories titled “Stories”.
He worked as a representative with a ball bearing company in
Calcutta from 1970 to 1980 and returned to Kerala to join Kerala
Sahitya Akademi and was in-charge of Appan Thampuram Smarakam,
Ayyanthole, Thrissur. Being a rebel, he could not get along well
with the Authorities.
